It is still fresh as daisy in my mind – the day of wedding of Clara O’ Neil and Robert Brown in December, last year. My room mate and close companion in Orange Coast College, California, (while I was in the States for my scholarship course a few years back), Clara had specially invited me to her wedding. Thanks to the newly assigned journalistic project to cover a grand wedding, I was gracing the occasion of a gala bash at one of the cruises of Orca Yacht Charters at Newport Beach!
Robert Brown was then working with Orca in a respectable post and it was from here that the idea of getting married asea struck the couple. Lilacs in garlands, festoons, vases and hairdos and the liberal shades of lavender in curtains, table cloths and drapes set the light mauve theme and tone right for the grand occasion of love and life. Expert hands of the ace photographers arrested it all.
It will be a sin not to mention the lavish spreads of turkey breasts, Confetti Coleslaw, French Baguettes, Espresso cake and loads of puffs, cookies and pies that I could hardly resist at any cost! The three-tiered Chinese wedding cake adorned with satin ribbons, frost drapes, flowers and the dancing couple on the top was surely the loveliest thing to remember. It was fun pulling out the ribbons out of our mouths while we had the cake pieces. With all the wining, dining and pleasantries over, I retired to my plush room on board to sink into the downs of dreams. The rippling sound of waters poured music into my ears.
